maintaining the rich stock of historical and architectural treasures throughout
Springfield.
o Ariel Perez and Jesse Lederman—for their youthful, energetic, and
wide-reaching contributions in the areas of public safety, environmental

from President Kroll; Annual Community Holiday Pot Luck Dinner took
place with entertainment from the Rebecca Johnson Children’s Chorus.
6:45—7:15 pm: Annual
Community Service Awards Ceremony included presentations to Arise for Social Justice, Michaelann Bewsee
accepting; The Springfield Preservation Trust, Gayle White and Ben Murphy
accepting; and Ariel Perez and Jesse Lederman.

NEW
BUSINESS—OPEN TO THE FLOOR
o Marianne W suggested a
change in the bylaws which would allow McKnight youth to vote in Council
elections, in light of the fact that we have a youth seat on the board of
directors.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
RAIL
TRAIL : (Liz Stevens, Chair)
o
Liz S reported that meetings with the Parks
Dept are proceeding well, with the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission attending
the last meeting. Next meeting in
February will include the Mayor and the head of the Planning department.
PUBLIC SAFETY:

o
Walter K reported on recent work in the
area of traffic enforcement and resolving drag racing problems with the SPD
traffic division.
HOUSING/
CODE:
(Demetrios Panteleakis, Chair)
o Demetrios
P reporting on recent invitations to casino contenders inviting them to meet
with board to discuss neighborhood impacts, and to request mitigation measures.
WRAP-UP
o Jesse
L answered questions on the recent Brownfield forum that MNC co-sponsored. Participants learned how to report a
Brownfield to the state. Results of
first McKnight/Bay assessment were discussed.
PVPC and Planning Department representatives also attended and are interested
in continuing work in the neighborhood.
o Gayle
W announced Preservation Trust fundraiser for January 27 and encouraged support.
